General specifications of ion vacuum pumps
NMD, NMDI, NMDO ion pumps are used for oil-free extraction of gases and gas mixtures (air) from vacuum systems, with the exception of for hydrocarbons, aggressive gases, vapors that can affect construction materials of the pump.
The pumps are supplied in a moderately cold climate modification category 4 according to GOST 15150. The pumps are powered from a special power supply unit delivered by a separate order.
Key technical parameters of ion vacuum pumps
~1,0*10-9 mm hg) and ultimate residual pressure are specified in Table 1;
- pump dimensions and weight are specified in Table 2;
- maximum starting pressure of the pumps is 1 Pa (~1,0*10-2 mm hg);
- maximum working pressure of the pumps is 2,0*10-3 Pa (~2,0*10-5 mm hg).
Pump manufacturer's guarantee
The manufacturer guarantees trouble-free operation of ion vacuum pumps subject to compliance with the requirements to transportation, installation, storage and maintenance of the equipment. Warranty period is 12 months from the date of commissioning, but no more than 18 months from the date of the pump shipment to the user, provided that time of the pump working at pressures exceeding 1,0*10-4 Pa ( ~1,0*10-6 mm hg) should not be more than 5 % of the total time.
Vacuum pumps operation guidelines
Vacuum pumps operators should study the specifics of operation of the pumps, equipment and devices used together with the pumps, should be trained how to work with the pump and meet other requirements stated in the product datasheet.
Pumps are operated as a part of vacuum installation with an oil-free preliminary extraction device that exhaust the pump to its starting pressure.
Normal operation of the pumps requires degassing heating (after installation) of the pump and the part of vacuum installation to which the pump is connected (with removed magnetic system of the pump). The vacuum system should be exhausted using oil-free preliminary extraction devices.
The pumps must be powered by special power supply units. Approximate parameters of the power supply units and other reference data are shown in Tables 3... 5.

Power supply units for ion vacuum pumps
BPM power supply units
BPM power supply units we recommend for our ion vacuum pumps have the following advantages over the old BP power supply units:
- considerably smaller pump weight and dimensions;
- considerably smaller power consumption;
- more convenient and safe operation. Illuminated display simultaneously shows the values of produced current and voltage, there are no pointer-type current/voltage measurement devices and current/voltage scales switch;
- there are two operation modes: rated power mode and increased power mode. In the main operation mode the BPM power supply unit produces rated power current that is its basic feature. The increased power mode is an auxiliary mode for BPM. This mode can be used for a short time when the pump starts its operation or during its work with increased extraction pressure. After a preset period of time the BPM power supply unit will automatically switch from the increased power mode to the rated power mode.
